The relationships and differences among PVC flooring, plastic flooring, stone-plastic composite (SPC/LVT) flooring, rubber flooring, linoleum, and anti-static flooring are primarily as follows:
"Stone-plastic flooring" (often referred to as SPC or LVT) is a term used in the domestic market to describe PVC sheet or tile flooring; because the primary raw material is natural stone powder while the wear layer is made of PVC, it is named "stone-plastic flooring" or "stone-plastic tiles."
Terms such as "plastic flooring," "PVC sports flooring," and "PVC plastic flooring" are technically non-standard, though they are generally understood to refer to PVC flooring.
Rubber flooring and PVC flooring are entirely different concepts; rubber flooring is made from polymer materials comprising natural rubber, synthetic rubber, and other ingredients. [3] Natural rubber refers to rubber harvested from cultivated rubber trees. Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), high-styrene rubber, and cis-polybutadiene rubber are synthetic rubbers derived as petroleum by-products. Rubber flooring for indoor use, manufactured primarily from rubber, comes in both homogeneous and heterogeneous varieties and features either embossed or smooth surfaces. Homogeneous rubber flooring consists of a single or multi-layer vulcanized structure based on natural or synthetic rubber, with uniform color and composition throughout. Heterogeneous rubber flooring is also based on natural or synthetic rubber but features a structure comprising a wear layer and other compacted layers that differ in composition and/or design; these compacted layers include a reinforcement layer.
Rubber flooring is typically used in areas requiring exceptional wear resistance. However, due to its high cost, difficulty in coloring (resulting in limited color options), and strict installation requirements, its market share remains relatively small. Domestically, it is primarily used in the transportation sector-including vehicles such as subways, aircraft, and automobiles, as well as transport hubs like airports, train stations, and ships.
Linoleum flooring differs significantly from PVC flooring. Linoleum is a type of resilient flooring composed of linseed oil, limestone, cork, wood flour, natural resins, and jute. Its most notable characteristics are its natural, eco-friendly nature and excellent resistance to cigarette burns. Its drawbacks include a porous surface that is prone to staining, difficult installation, and a tendency to crack in low temperatures. Linoleum is primarily supplied in rolls and features a uniform, homogeneous structure.
Anti-static flooring is also known as static-dissipative flooring. When grounded or connected to a point of lower potential, this type of flooring allows electric charges to dissipate; it is characterized by an electrical resistance ranging from $1.0 \times 10^5$ to $10^9$ ohms. There is a wide variety of anti-static flooring, including anti-static ceramic tiles, "three-proof" (fireproof, waterproof, and anti-static) raised access floors, all-steel anti-static raised access floors, composite anti-static flooring, aluminum alloy anti-static flooring, wood-look anti-static flooring, anti-static PVC flooring, and calcium sulfate anti-static flooring; anti-static PVC flooring falls under the category of PVC flooring.
