Types of PVC Flooring Materials

⑴ Categorized by structure, there are three main types: multi-layer composite, homogeneous (through-body), and semi-homogeneous. Multi-layer composite PVC flooring consists of multiple layers-typically four to five-pressed together; these generally include a wear layer (with UV treatment), a printed film layer, a fiberglass layer, an elastic foam layer, and a base layer. Homogeneous PVC flooring is uniform throughout its thickness, meaning the pattern and composition remain consistent from the surface down to the bottom.
⑵ Categorized by form, there are two types: sheet flooring and tile (or plank) flooring. Sheet flooring comes in rolls and is relatively soft in texture; standard widths include 1.5 meters and 2 meters, with roll lengths of 20 meters and total thicknesses ranging from 1.6 mm to 3.2 mm (these specifications apply to commercial flooring; sports flooring can be thicker, reaching 4 mm, 5 mm, or 6 mm). Tile flooring comes in a wider variety of specifications, primarily categorized into plank (strip) shapes and square shapes.
Common specifications for plank (strip) flooring include:
4" × 36" (101.6 mm × 914.4 mm), 6" × 36" (152.4 mm × 914.4 mm), and 8" × 36" (203.2 mm × 914.4 mm); thickness: 1.2 mm–3.0 mm.
Common specifications for square flooring include:
12" × 12" (304.8 mm × 304.8 mm), 18" × 18" (457.2 mm × 457.2 mm), and 24" × 24" (609.6 mm × 609.6 mm);
thickness: 1.2 mm–3.0 mm.
