Regarding Plastic Flooring

1. Before leaving the factory, plastic flooring is coated with a layer of wax to protect it from abrasion during long-distance transport and installation. Do not wax the floor immediately after installation; the wax layer would seal the gaps between the floor tiles, preventing the adhesive underneath from breathing and curing properly, which would reduce bonding strength. The correct procedure is to wait for the floor to dry-typically for at least 24 hours, depending on weather conditions-before waxing.
2. Before waxing, it is best to clear the room of items (except for immovable furniture) and clean the floor. Specifically, use a neutral detergent diluted with water to wet-mop the floor and remove surface dust and grime; for large areas or heavily soiled floors, consider using a multi-function cleaning machine with a compatible scrubbing pad. After cleaning, rinse the floor once or twice with clean water and either vacuum up the moisture or let it air-dry (note that using a wet/dry vacuum eliminates the need for rinsing and is much faster). Once the floor is completely dry, waxing can begin. There are two types of wax: base wax and top wax. Base wax seals the gaps and pores of the flooring; it does not produce a high-gloss finish when dry, whereas top wax provides a glossier finish.
3. For the initial application, it is recommended to apply one coat of base wax followed by two coats of top wax. Allow a two-hour interval between coats, or wait until the previous layer is completely dry. Additionally, if a high-gloss finish is desired, more than two coats of top wax can be applied, followed by mechanical polishing. After the floor has been in use for some time, the wax layer may become soiled; when contamination is severe, wax removal is necessary. The specific method involves diluting wax remover with warm water, wet-mopping the floor, letting it sit for a few minutes, and then using a squeegee to remove the wax layer and moisture; using a multi-function cleaning machine with a scrubbing pad is recommended for this step. After removing the wax, repeat the cleaning and waxing process.
